Don’t worry; you aren’t alone. Most people draw their conclusions from a split-second impression. A bad cover can make the difference between a person picking up a book and leaving it to gather dust on the shelf.

Let’s apply this to achievement. The “pages” of your character are valuable and worth reading — but how will anyone know if your “cover” isn’t interesting enough to attract attention?

Appearances matter, regardless of whether you’re picking up a book or meeting a person. You alone control how you present yourself to the world. Think; what message do you want your “cover” to send? How can you change your appearance to broadcast your personality and abilities, rather than hide them?
